It is likely Marco Verratti will join Barcelona next season

The agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti hinted a move away from the Ligue 1 side is complicated due to his massive price tag.

Verratti has been earmarked as a potential signing for Barcelona, as one of the few world class deep-lying playmakers in Europe; a role which Xavi filled during a legendary career which spanned over 17 seasons in the Barca first-team.

With €35 million signing Andre Gomes and Ivan Rakitic unlikely to reach the level required to turn the Blaugrana into the dominant force they were during the period of Xavi and Iniesta, the diminutive Italian has been tipped to be their number one transfer target this off-season.

AC Milan has also been credited with an interest in the 24-year-old who was dubbed the 'next Pirlo' during his time in Italy with Pescara.

"It's difficult," his agent Donato Di Campli told Sky Italia. "I think it's a deal which is still out of the scope of Italian clubs."

"It's very complicated [to leave], but we have expressed our ideas to PSG. We're not talking about Barcelona or other clubs, it's about projects.

"I think I represent a champion and clearly I have questions. To be a champion you have to win.

"If PSG don't want to sell him, despite offers from all over Europe, then we'd have to examine our consciences in Italy."
